Abstract :

Fungi have been utilized as both sustenance and remedies in various regions across the globe. This is mostly due to their nutritional content as a possible source of carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, and minerals. Moreover, mushrooms and truffles are rich in bioactive metabolites, making them popular in traditional medicine across Africa, the Middle East, China, and Japan. The medicinal benefits of mushrooms are said to include anti-inflammatory properties, with a wide variety of chemical structures making up the anti-inflammatory compounds found in mushrooms. They consist of polysaccharides, terpenoids, phenolic compounds, and various other small molecules. The purpose of this review is to examine the various bioactive compounds produced by different organisms and their potential as powerful anti-inflammatory agents, particularly focusing on mushroom compounds and their mechanisms of action.
