Abstract :
Climate change has emerged as one of the greatest challenges to global agriculture, threatening crop productivity, soil health, water resources, and overall food security. Consequently, there is an urgent need for sustainable strategies that can enhance agricultural resilience while ensuring adequate food production. It is because there are hazardous impacts of climate change on food security such as, temperature, wind speed, pest attack and extreme weather events. However, there is significant role of biotechnology in promoting sustainable agriculture. The application of modern biotechnological approaches, includes genetic engineering, genome editing, molecular breeding, microbial biotechnology, and other advanced techniques for developing climate-resilient, high-yielding, and stress-tolerant crops. The contribution of biotechnology to sustainable food production through improved crop quality enhance resource use efficiency is remarkable. Overall, integrating biotechnology with sustainable agricultural practices offers a primary pathway to strengthen global food security and improve the resilience of agricultural systems under changing climatic conditions. This article outlines effects of climate change on food security, modern biotechnological applications to prevent food quality, future opportunities, emerging innovations, and the major challenges associated with agricultural biotechnology.
