Improper sanitation and hygiene coupled with lack of awareness and limited access to safe water contribute to the crisis. This article aims to report some common waterborne pathogens and the risk they cause to human populations. Besides, the article describes public health strategies to combat waterborne diseases. Adopting these measures worldwide is essential to protect people from the dangers of waterborne diseases.
